Tyler Hathaway is a singing instructor and musician based in Philadelphia, PA. He is enrolled in graduate school at Antioch University for a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with a focus on trauma-informed expressive arts therapy.

His teaching practice is informed by his training in Inside Voice techniques as taught by Jonathan Stancato; his familiarity with healing practices (including mind-body symptom treatments, cognitive behavioral therapy, breath work, and meditation); his acting training (Meisner technique) at the Actor’s Workshop of Ithaca; his experience as a collaborator and storyteller working in the film industry in Chicago and NYC; and over 20 years experience as a drummer and percussionist.

In addition to performing music with others, Tyler teaches a radical, mindbody approach to singing and voice, in the forms of private lessons and recurrent group workshops in Philadelphia and remotely.

Tyler also leads a group workshop called Safe and Sound, offered in person and online, which is designed to be both a respite and a relaying of tools and new perspectives to reduce stress and anxiety through sound, body, and voice.

Tyler is committed to making his teachings safe and accessible to everyone. It is his priority to approach his work and communication in a way that is anti-racist, feminist-conscious, LGBTQ- and genderqueer-affirming, disability-adaptive, and body-positive in every way.
